Fancy Farm Fourth of July

Everyone is invited to Fancy Farm for the community's "God Bless America" Fourth of July celebration on Sunday. The event will kick off at 3 p.m. with a cookout fundraiser to pay for a mission trip to Mandeville, Jamaica. That will be followed by a parade at 5 p.m. featuring Dr. Hunt's Fancy Farm Mules, parade floats and more.

Betty Jean Redden will be Grand Marshall. The Kid's Parade will follow at 6:30 p.m. and the day will be topped off by a fireworks show at 9 p.m.

MES council to meet

Mayfield Elementary School's SBDM council is scheduled to meet at 4 p.m. on Monday for consultation in the school's library.

Icehouse Demonstration Fair

Artists of all mediums are invited to demonstrate and/or sell their art out of tents from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Thursday on the grounds at Mayfield's Icehouse Gallery. The fair will piggyback with Glory Days, BAM! (Bike Around Mayfield), and Top Gun car show events in downtown Mayfield. The fee to demonstrate is $25. Courthouse closures

Graves Circuit Court, Graves District Court, the Circuit Court clerk's offices (including driver's licensing), along with remaining offices located in the judicial side of the courthouse will be closed on July 5 to allow for the repair of damage caused by a recent water leak. Offices in the annex portion of the building will be open as scheduled. The entire courthouse will be closed on Thursday.

Laurel Oak/Blue Star Memorial

The Laurel Oak Garden Club and American Legion Post 26 will host the unveiling and dedication of a Blue Star Memorial marker at Mayfield's Harmon Park at 2 p.m. on July 12. National and state Garden Club officials are expected to attend along with Mayfield/Graves County officials and the Patriot Riders motorcycle club.

Mayfield Elementary SBDM schedule

Mayfield Elementary School has announced a schedule of meetings for the school's SBDM council for the following dates in 2019-20: July 9, Aug. 13, Sept. 10, Oct. 15, Nov. 12, Jan. 14, 2020, Feb. 11, March 10, April 14 and May 12. All meetings will take place at 5 p.m. in the school's library.
