A Mayfield man was arrested Saturday and charged with multiple charges in relation to illegal drugs he had brought into the Graves County Jail.

According to information from Graves County Jailer George Workman, Tavon Carmen, 27, of 513 E Broadway in Mayfield, was arrested and brought into Graves County Jail. While being booked in, Sgt. Jacob Mason observed Carmen throwing a plastic baggie down the hall. The baggie was recovered and found to contain Suboxen pills.

Carmen was then taken to the body scanner and provided Sgt. Mason with another plastic baggie containing a substance believed to be methamphetamine. He was subsequently charged with first-degree promoting contraband, two counts of first-degree possession of a controlled substance, and tampering with physical evidence.

Carmen is being held in Graves County Jail.
