Entry fee waived for parade

Donations, rather than an entry fee, will be accepted for the 2019 Mayfield Lions Club Lighted Christmas Parade.

The parade will be held on Saturday, Nov. 30, beginning at 5 p.m.

Brad Jones, Mayfield Lions Club Christmas Parade chairman, said anyone with show cars, antique cars, motorcycles, fire departments and bands are encouraged to participate.

"We are also inviting businesses, civic organizations and churches to enter a float," he said.

The theme for this season will b, "Songs of Christmas."

Floats will be required to be lighted, and will also need to have the name of the business, organization or church on the right side of the float for recognition on the radio. Show and antique cars do not have to have any signage.

Walkers are asked to go alongside the floats to hand out candy, and Santa Claus themes are asked to be avoided to avoid confusion with the "one Santa" that will take part in the parade, Jones added.

Trophies will also be awarded.
