The Paducah Police Department charged a Mayfield man with DUI Sunday after his vehicle crashed into the dining room at Captain D's restaurant on Hinkleville Road.

PPD officials said Davis J. Mills, 22, was rdriving a 2014 Toyota 4Runner west shortly after 10 p.m. He reportedly drove around a barrier wall, through several traffic cones and into the eastbound lanes at James-Sanders Boulevard before crashing through the front of the restaurant.

There were no reported injuries to anyone inside, according to the report.

Witnesses told police that Mills was speeding. PPD officers said he smelled of burned marijuana and reportedly admitted to smoking the drug about an hour prior to the crash.

Mills was taken to Mercy Health Lourdes Hospital for treatment. He was then arrested and additionally charged with first-degree criminal mischief and taken to McCracken County Jail.
