Monster Truck Wars rumbles into fairgrounds Saturday

Jeff Brock poses beside his truck, Sergeant Smash," that will be part of Saturday's "Monster Truck Wars" at the Mayfield Graves County Fairgrounds. Those in attendance will also have a chance to rise in a monster truck. Gates open at 11 a.m. with the show to start at 1 p.m.

The monsters will be out in full force Saturday.

Monster trucks, that is.

Mayfield Graves County Parks will hold West Kentucky Monster Truck Wars at the Mayfield Graves County Fairgrounds as part of a variety of summer offerings.

The gate opens at 11 a.m. with the monster truck show running from 1-4 p.m.

Jeff Brock of Ennis, Texas, drives “Sergeant Smash,” which a truck he built 20 years ago. He said the show will feature four or five monster trucks doing wheelies, racing and have “quad wars” which pit trucks from different states against each other.

Those in attendance will also have a chance to ride in a truck.

“You kind of get a feel somewhat that you’re high on big wheels and get an idea of what to expect,” Brock said.

Cost to ride is $10 per person.

Parking at the fairgrounds is $5. Tickets will be available at the gate for the show as well as online ahead of time through monstertrucks.fun. Concessions will also be available.
