A Wingo woman was arrested by the Carlisle County Sheriff’s office for DUI and other charges following a crash Sunday night.
The sheriff’s office responded to a vehicle collision at the intersection of State Route 307 and Ky 80 East at approximately 10:00 p.m. A 1999 Honda Odyssey operated by Jessica Hobbs, 35, of Wingo, was traveling eastbound on State Highway 80 when she attempted to navigate a curve in the roadway. Evidence suggested that the vehicle went into a sideways skid off the road, colliding with several signs and a utility pole. Traffic control lights attached to the utility pole fell into the roadway, where a 2010 Ford Fusion operated by Kimberly Mitchell, 32, of Arlington, struck them, damaging her vehicle.
During the investigation it became apparent that Hobbs was inebriated. She was transported to Jackson Purchase for treatment of minor injuries and then released into police custody. She was taken to the Ballard County Jail. She was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence (Second Offense), No Registration, and Failure to Maintain Insurance.
