The Graves County Lady Eagles visited the Calloway County Lady Lakers on Monday evening as the season nears its end. The Lady Eagles won the game 4-2 after trailing through the first five innings.
In the bottom of the first, the Lady Lakers scored two runs but pitcher Anna Rogers avoided major damage by stranding the loaded bases and escaping the jam.
The game would not see any runs for a few innings as neither team scored in innings two through five.
In the top of the sixth, the Lady Eagles finally broke through and scored two runs to tie the game. The first run scored after an Anna Davis single and the second scored on an Ebonee Bell sacrifice fly.
Heading into the top of the seventh, the game was still tied 2-2. Ginger Martin led off the inning with a single. Then, with one out and Martin still on first, Taylor Woods pulled a line drive two-run home run to give the Lady Eagles the lead.
The Lady Eagles would go on to win the game 4-2 for a third straight come from behind win.
“We made an adjustment on the changeup,” head coach Dana Adkins said. “She was getting to where she was throwing it about every other pitch. Early in that inning that we scored two runs, we made that adjustment, let the ball travel and did what we needed to do.”
After that first inning Rogers settled in an had a big game for the Lady Eagles. Rogers pitched all seven innings and allowed just two hits, two runs and struck out seven Lady Lakers.
“[Rogers] just made an adjustment with her spins,” Adkins said. “She was working a little bit too far off the plate and in the second inning we settled in and got the spins working back across the plate.”

On Friday evening, the Lady Eagles traveled to Hickman County for a contest with the Lady Falcons.
The game got off to a slow start as each team went scoreless for the first five innings.
The Lady Falcons plated the games first two runs in the bottom of the fifth inning.
The Lady Eagles would not score until the top of the seventh when Brooklyn Cole hit a two-run game tying home run that would force extra innings.
In the top of the eighth, the Lady Eagles scored two runs on singles from Payton Hayden and Martin, they would hold on in the bottom of the inning to win the game 4-2.

On Thursday, the Lady Eagles defeated Caldwell County 6-5 thanks to a two-run walk-off home run from Cole.
Caldwell County got the scoring started as they scored one run in the top of the second and two more in the top of the third. The Lady Eagles got their first run across in the bottom of the third, they would add another in the bottom of the fourth to cut the deficit to 3-2.
In the top of the fifth, Caldwell County scored two runs. In the the bottom of the sixth, the Lady Eagles scored two runs and had a scoreless top of the seventh, giving them a 5-4 deficit heading into the bottom of the seventh.
With two outs and nobody on, Woods hit a single, followed by the Cole walk-off bomb, giving Cole her second home run of the game.
