Forty matches are on tap for Saturday's start to the First Region boys' and girls' tennis tournaments. That includes 15 for Mayfield and Graves County players.

Last year's regional boys double runner-up team from Graves, Brady Ellegood and Isaac Carrico, are the top doubles seed this year and will be part of the first group to play Saturday (8:45 a.m.) at the Heflin Tennis Courts in Lone Oak.

The No. 3-seeded team of Mayfield's Kobe Morris and Tate Puckett will play at 9:30 a.m., followed at 10 a.m. by Lady Cardinal sisters and No. 4 girls' doubles team Megan and Molly Null taking on Graves County's Makayla Whitaker and Ally Clark in a regional tournament "Battle of the Birds."

Eagle senior Jaron Hale is seeded third in boys' singles play. He will face Ballard Memorial's Jacob Adams at 10:30 a.m. Lady Eagles Laken Shultz and Maddy Williams are seeded fifth in girls' doubles and will play in the final round of matches at 11:30 a.m.
