Local teams participate in upcoming tournaments

The Graves County Eagles and the Mayfield Cardinals will each participate in basketball tournaments in the next two weeks.

The Cardinals began play in the First Region All "A" tournament Saturday, Jan. 11, and will continue play through Saturday, Jan. 18.

The Eagles will begin play in the Superman Classic at Massac County, Illinois, on Monday, Jan. 20.

Fulton Railroaders name Guymon as new head coach

Scott Guymon has been named the new manager of the Fulton Railroaders for the upcoming 2020 season.

Guymon spent last season as an assistant coach with the Railroaders, assisting with both pitching and hitting, as well as coaching first base.

Guymon has over 20 years of coaching experience including nine years at the college level. He spent four years as the pitching coach at Union University, four years at Lambuth University and one year at Jackson State Community College.

During his coaching tenure, Guymon has had seven pitchers drafted in the MLB and helped over 20 players go on to play at the college level.

He is currently the head baseball coach at West Carroll High School in Atwood, Tennessee.

Guymon has expressed nothing but excitement for the upcoming season as the Railroaders' new manager.

"I am extremely excited to be the manager of such a great organization and feel that we have put together an awesome roster that the entire Fulton area will be proud of watching this coming summer."
